Understanding PEG in Beauty Products

There's a popular additive used by the beauty industry called Polyethylene Glycol that's usually found in shampoos and conditioners. While PEG is a common additive in cosmetics and pharmaceuticals, it has a potential threat that extends to your hair and scalp health.

Polyethylene Glycol, abbreviated as PEG, is a versatile substance used in a wide range of personal care products, including haircare items. Its primary role is to enhance product consistency and texture, making it an integral component of many cosmetic and pharmaceutical formulations. However, behind its ubiquity lies a concern that warrants our attention.

One of the primary concerns associated with PEG is the possibility of contamination with impurities. Due to the manufacturing process, PEG can be tainted with substances like ethylene oxide and 1,4-dioxane, both of which are known carcinogens, or cancer-causing agents. These impurities may not be clearly listed on product labels, so it's important we are aware of potential risks.

Using products with PEG in them might not make your hair any healthier or shinier, and it might expose you to those harmful impurities. Over time, this can affect the health of your hair and scalp.

So, what can you do to protect your hair and scalp? Look for haircare products that don't have PEG in them. Try to go for natural options that won't hide any nasty surprises. Pay attention to what's in the products you use and make sure they're clear about what's inside.

As consumers, we should prioritize products and packaging that are free from PEG and look for alternatives that promote our well-being without compromising effectiveness. All of Nae Nae's Naturals products and packaging, from shampoos to conditioners and moisturizers, are PEG free and vegan friendly. Even better, our flagship product the Hair Boost is Handmade with 19 all natural essential oils and butters that includes rosemary and vitamin E.

I urge you to make informed choices when selecting beauty products. Opt for PEG -free alternatives to protect your hair, scalp, and your entire body from potential harm. Your beauty regimen should enhance your natural radiance, not compromise your health.

PEG, though widely used in haircare and cosmetics, may carry hidden risks, including contamination with carcinogenic impurities. Let's make informed choices when it comes to our haircare routine by selecting products that are free from this hidden danger. Embrace safer alternatives, advocate for transparent labeling, and ensure that your haircare and scalp care genuinely nurture the well-being of your hair and scalp. Your locs deserve nothing less than the utmost care and attention, free from the hazards that may lurk beneath the surface.

Remember, your hair deserves the best care possible, and that includes using products that prioritize your well-being.

Have always loved your products!

I started using your products about four years ago, my hair grew like crazy. I had to keep coloring it to keep the gray out, but decided to go Natural, my gray came in beautifully, and my hair is still growing. Thank you Nae Nae.

I've been using Nae Nae products since 2019, had a nervous breakdown last year, and now in 2023 my hair is growing back.

I normally wear my hair in the two strands twist without or without hair added. My edges became so thin, my hair would tangle so much be so hard to untangle and I have tried many hair products to make my hair nice. I want it beautiful.
