Diet
If you're not including things like meat, dairy, nuts, and whole grains, you might be missing out on zinc. These foods are packed with it, and your body needs it to keep your hair in good shape.
Digestive Issues
Some stomach issues can make it hard for your body to absorb zinc properly. Conditions like Crohn's disease or celiac disease can mess with how your body takes in nutrients, including zinc. So even if you're eating enough, your body might not be getting what it needs.
Non-Meat Diet
If you're a vegetarian or vegan, you might have trouble getting enough zinc. Plant-based foods have zinc too, but they also have something called phytates, which can make it harder for your body to soak up the zinc. So you might need to make sure you're eating a good variety of zinc-rich plant foods.
Medications
Some medicines can mess with how your body handles zinc. Things like certain diuretics (which make you pee more) or medications for heartburn can throw off your zinc levels. If you're on meds regularly, it's a good idea to talk to your doctor about how they might be affecting your zinc levels.
